  35. This program is a masterpiece from Polish coders. Using it you get the
  36. possibility to create a complete FDD simulation in your XMS memory. This way
  37. you can watch/test/install programs WITHOUT using any diskette. When you get
  38. used to this, you will notice it's much better and safer than SUBST command.
  39. Also you get some additional programs for improving your work with DiskDupe.

  42. 1. EMULATING FDD.

  44. Run XMSDISK with no parameters for the details.
  45. Example: XMSDISK A2  (-> creates RAM diskette 1.2MB like in A: drive).

  47. After emulating the diskette you can use it EXACTLY the same way like you
  48. had normal diskette in your standard drive, e.g. you can label it, format it,
  49. delete it and fuck it. And yes, PKUNZIP with -$ works...

  52. 2. DISKDUPE OPTIONS.

  54. You may want to save your diskette in DiskDupe format (no matter if .DDI or
  55. any other extension). You can do this by using the following: 2DDI.EXE,
  56. 3DDI.EXE, 4DDI.EXE and 7DDI.EXE.

  58. Usage: xDDI.EXE [filename] [drive:]
  59. Example: 2DDI.EXE SHIT.DDI A: (acts like DiskDupe's Source: A, Dest: SHIT.DDI)

  62. Reversing this procedure (copying .DDI file on the drive) is possible by
  63. DDI.EXE.

  69. Sometimes you are in such a situation: you have DiskDupe set on your HDD (e.g.
  70. some 9 disk game), and you don't have enough free disks to save it and install.
  71. 2DISK.EXE comes with the help. Run it under Windows and you are free to install
  72. set or single file. All you have to do is:
  73. a) emulate diskette by XMSDISK.COM;
  74. b) run win: /3 2disk;
  75. c) find directory with set or file(s);
  76. d) copy n-th file on diskette emulation;
  77. e) go to DOS shell;
  78. f) run installation program;
  79. g) when program asks you for disk change, go back to Windows and -> d).
